Portrait of Khatereh Meshkini

Khatereh Meshkini holds a PhD in Information and Communication Technology, completed through a joint collaboration between Fondazione Bruno Kessler and the University of Trento.
Her doctoral research focused on developing advanced methods for analyzing high-resolution satellite image time series, specifically in the context of land cover (LC) mapping and change detection.

Khatereh’s research focused on creating deep learning models to analyze multi-spectral and multi-temporal satellite images. Her work aimed to monitor land cover changes, with a special emphasis on forestry and cropland areas. Her research also addressed the detection and monitoring of forest
disturbances under extreme climate conditions or characterized by significant
climate changes in long- and short-term periods.

Khatereh is joining the UPSCALE projet, where she will extend her work to deep learning-based multimodal data fusion techniques aimed at enhancing forest monitoring capabilities. A particular focus will be placed on assessing the influence of environmental variables on the accuracy and robustness of deep learning models.
