Portrait of Adrian Ringenbach

After his geography studies (BSc and MSc) at the University of Zurich, Adrian Ringenbach gained four years of practical experience as a natural hazard mitigation project manager. Then, he pursued his PhD degree at the WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF in Davos. During his work, he focused on the rockfall-forest interaction. In particular, Adrian investigated the influence of lying deadwood on rockfall dynamics through large-scale experiments and slope-scale simulations.

Within the FORM group, Adrian will change the scale considered as he performs up to state-wide rockfall simulations and derives the rockfall risks. Additional natural forest disturbances, such as bark beetle calamities and forest fires, will also be considered in such simulations.
