Workshop outline:
Field courses are an important part of many university programs in the applied sciences because they build many different skills in a realistic learning environment. In addition to learning new information, students often must also execute tasks to show physical capabilities. A third quality of field courses is the advancement of student's professional attitudes, which are rarely considered when planning experiences outside the classroom.
In this workshop, we will use interactive discussions and theory to look at these three qualities of field schools, as well as how to use structured reflection exercises to assess attitude developments in students.
